تدوین فرهنگ xadهای تخصصی برای درک مفاهیمِ مشترک در واژگانِ اختصاصی گرایشxadهای مختلف علمی، جهت استفاده متخصصین و کارورزان در اقصی نقاط جهان ضروری است. از این رو فرهنگ مصور اروپایی اصطلاحات حفاظت برای نقاشیxadهای دیواری و سطوح معماری که با همت مؤسسهxad هورنِمان و همکاری بسیاری از متخصصین بین xadالمللی به صورت اثری تحلیلی و تصویری به انجام رسیده بود و تاکنون به چندین زبان مهم دنیا ترجمه شده بود، برای ترجمه به زبان فارسی مورد توجه مترجمان قرار گرفت. این کتاب مجموعه xadای کامل و جامع از اصطلاحات متفاوت در زمینهxadxad مواد و مصالح مربوط به نقاشی دیواری و سطوح معماری، منابع و پدیدهxadهای تخریب، مستندسازی مداخلات، حفاظت پیشگیرانه و نیز حفاظت و مرمت بر اساس فرهنگ و هنر اروپایی است، از این رو ترجمه آن بهxad خصوص واژگان ایتالیایی که در عمده زبانxadهای اروپایی با همان املاء و تلفظ پذیرفته شدهxad اند تا حدی چالش بر انگیز بود، از این رو تلاش برای یافتن معادل صحیح آنxadها که چندان دور از ذهن مخاطبِ تخصصی حفاظت از آثار هنری نباشد، از دشواریxadهای کار ترجمه فارسی بود. مترجمین برای دستیابی به ترجمهxad ای مطلوب از بسیاری فرهنگ xadهای واژگانِ تخصصی گرایش xadهای مرتبط علمی، و نیز از نظرات و انتقادات صاحبxadنظران مختلف چه به صورت حضوری و چه به صورت نظرxadخواهی از متنِ ترجمه شده استفاده نموده xadاند. ترجمهی کتاب حاضر برای دانشجویان رشتهxad مرمت آثار تاریخی، مرمت بناهای تاریخی، معماری و هنرهای وابسته در مقاطع مختلف کاربرد داشته و امید است علاوه بر جامعه دانشجویان دانشگاهی، مورد استفاده سایر هنرمندان مرتبط قرار گیرد. در خاتمه از همکاری و مساعدت دوستان گرامی استاد رحیم چرخی، دکتر یاسر حمزوی و دکتر علی نعمتی بابایلو که با نظرات و پیشنهادات تخصصی در ارتقاء این اثر یاری نمودند، کمال سپاسگزاری را داریم. به xadعلاوه از مؤسسهxad هورنِمان برای این اقدام بزرگ و مدیریت تدوین این فرهنگ در زبانxad های مختلف قدردانی میxad کنیم.

FOREWORD

Compiling glossaries for the use of specialists and apprentices across the world is a vital undertaking to ensure that similar meanings are conceived from technical terms used in diverse scientific branches. Thus, we found it an appealing idea to translate into Persian the European Illustrated Glossary for Conservation Terms for Wall Paintings and Architectural Surfaces, an analytical and illustrated publication by the Hornema Institute with the contributions from several professionals from around the globe thus far translated into multiple major world languages. The volume offers an inclusive collection of the terminology of the materials pertinent to wall paintings and architectural surfaces, deterioration sources and phenomena, interventions documenting, preventive conservation, and conservation and restoration according to the European culture and arts.

Its translation, notably the Italian terms, which are mainly adopted and applied with their original spellings and pronunciations in the majority of the European languages, proved rather challenging. Hence, finding appropriate equivalences that would not sound very alien to the prospective readers specialized in the conservation of art works represented a major challenge in the translation process. Several related glossaries and technical dictionaries as well as a large number of scholars and professionals were consulted about the proposed equivalences either in person or via written enquires so as to achieve a reasonable translation. The present translation is intended for the use of students of the conservation of historical monuments, restoration of historical buildings, architecture and related arts at different levels, but practitioners and experts from other related fields will hopefully use it apart from the academic community. In conclusion, special thanks go to Mr. Rahim Charkhi and Dr. Yaser Hamzavi, Dr. Ali Nemati Babaylou for their profitable Idea and suggestions. We would also like to extend our gratitude to the Hornema Institute for this enterprise and the supervision of the publication of this glossary in different languages.
